It is estimated that avoiding re-offending could save the public over £50,000 per offender. The risk of re-offending is reduced by a third to a half when ex-offenders gain sustained employment on release. *
Work this Way is an independent registered charity and social enterprise company founded in 2007. WtW aims to provide training, work experience, employment opportunities and support to prisoners approaching the end of their sentence. Our goals are to improve offenders’ employability, help offenders into employment and reduce the risk of their re-offending.
We provide:
- High quality, accredited, vocational, employer-led training and relevant work experience
- Peer mentoring and ‘soft’ skills development, helping to build the personal capabilities, confidence and self-esteem needed by socially excluded offenders to get a job
- Contract work to gain real references and the potential for continued employment on release.
And ‘beyond the prison gate’ we are also developing our links to existing specialist, employment and support services to ensure continuity for ex-offenders.
